Day 72 of Our RV Journey to Canada & Alaska 7/23/14 - Travel Day/Boondock Night in the Middle of No-Where (Alaska)

Today, we left Valdez at 9:00 to travel with Jesse in the lead.  We pulled over once for a pit stop and was back on the road.  Road conditions today were not too great; a lot of wash board  surface highway that we had to take slow and easy, and then there was some pretty decent highway that we could travel a little faster.  Also, we did some climbing with our vehicles.  It started out raining, but not too long.

We drove past Alaskan Pump Station #12 that was outside of Valdez.  The Alaskan Pipeline has 11 pump stations but #11 was never built but #12 was built.

No animals were sighted in our travel today.

We stopped in Tok and fueled up and went to a restaurant (Fast Eddie’s) that we ate when we first stayed in Tok that probably has the most economic restaurant  food in Alaska . Anyway, we ordered pizza to go, so we probably had a break from driving/riding in the truck for 20 minutes while we waited for that.

The guys kept chugging along in their truck till we found a pull-off  that would be good for both of our rigs.  That was about 4:00 pm.  Of course, we are in the middle of no-where so there is no TV channels to pick up or no cell/internet service.  Our generator is providing our electricity so we are able to watch a DVD from Jesse’s huge library of movies and I have power to use my computer (just NOT internet).

Bob and I watched the movie “The Long, Long, Trailer” starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez.  It was a movie a lot of us RV’rs can relate too.   It brought back memories of the days I use to watch “I Love Lucy”.

Tomorrow is another long travel day.

Have a good day!!!
