Today, we saw 10 Wood Bison and 4 black bears along our route. Jesse and Ginger saw one more bear that ran into the woods before we could see it. They were in the lead while traveling today.
When we got to Coal Creek Lodge, we ordered breakfast and got on the WiFi to catch up on emails, face book and read our daughters chats. Everything must be okay at home which is always “good news”. I can’t wait to be in Alaska because I think we can start using our cell phones again.
We run to the truck, trying to dodge the rain …. didn’t get too soaked. We travel more, seeing more animals along the highway. We crossed into the “Yukon Territory”.
Our next stop is Contact Creek…to fill up with diesel and fill our gas can up for the generator. (35.179 gal. = $166.74 Cap) We had been informed that diesel is approx 30 cents a gallon cheaper than that of Coal River Lodge & RV where we stopped for breakfast.
We arrived in the Watson Lake area around 11:00 am and found a campground. ($38.50 30amp/full hookup/sat. TV/WiFi (slow) )
Bob hung our sign.
Jesse & Ginger proudly display their sign.
Bob & Jesse stroll through the Sign Post Forest in the rain.
over 78,000 signs hanging
wonder if these people are related to Coach Giltner???
We think this sign came from Rutledge MO... now we know where all the missing/stolen city & street signs end up....there were many!!!
We went to the Northern Lights Center and watched a video/laser presentation on the aurora borealis.
These were Yukon flags that were hanging in the center.
We, then, decided to find a place to eat. We went to a restaurant outside the little town.
Have a good one!!!
