Day 23 of Our RV Journey to Canada & Alaska - 6/04/14 Left Watson Lake, Traveled to Whitehorse

Day 23 of Our RV Journey to Canada & Alaska - 6/04/14  Depart from Watson Lake and Travel to Whitehorse

This morning we left at approx 8:00 am to travel to Whitehorse.  Whitehorse became the capital of Yukon in 1953.

Our route wasn’t very exciting today because we saw very little wildlife.  We saw a Snow Shoe Hare, Bob saw a moose,  a rabbit and a squirrel.  I didn’t even take a picture of any of them and Bob barely spotted the moose as we were driving by.

Today, we also saw 2 bicyclists, guy pulling a cart full of stuff,  and a couple more bicyclists closer to Whitehorse.  I would never attempt riding a bike out here as it is so desolate….not to mention I would be scared a bear might get me.

We traveled in Yukon and British Columbia.

We drove over the Teslin Bridge which has a metal grated bridge decking; they warn you it gets slick when wet.  That is the second or third one Bob has driven on in Canada and he said it feels like you can‘t control the steering very well on those type bridges.

Scenery around  the mountains, Marsh Lake and the Yukon River was beautiful.

We arrived in Whitehorse around 1:30 pm and checked in and paid for 2 days at the Hi Country RV Park.
($39.69 x 2 nights = $79.38 Cap)

After setting up our campers, we got together and went to the campground office to sign up and pay for an activity we are all going to do tomorrow. Then we went to the Visitor Information Center, Walmart, and fuel station. (34.17 gal = $174.80Cap)

At 6:00 pm, we went to Jesse & Ginger’s for dinner.  She cooked a Mexican meal.  Very good!!!  We came back home at 7:00 pm so they could enjoy some television.

Have a nice day!!

Total Miles Traveled Today =  271

  1. Did you have to make reservations or just stop as you went? Did you ever run into a situation where there was no vacancy?

  2. Haven't made any reservations. Too many places to stay for them all to be full
