Day 53 of Our RV Journey to Canada & Alaska - 7/04/14 Spending the 4th of July in Ninilchik, Alaska

First of all, we want to wish everyone, especially our family and friends, a Safe and Happy 4th of July!!

Bob and I got up bright and early this morning, got ready, packed our gear ...... for hopefully a few hours of salmon fishing.  As I said yesterday, Bob is apprehensive about going fishing today, since it is a holiday; he's thinking the locals will be out fishing along the river and it will be too crowded to fish.  We jump in the truck and off we go to the area we planned to fish today.  We get to the parking lot and it already has several vehicles in it and one of the vehicles is a truck that belongs to a Fishing Guide.  That means he could have 6 people with him fishing, as well as the people there that would have been in the other vehicles in the parking lot.  So, that means no fishing for us today ... hate to spend money on licenses and salmon stamps that would be good for today only ... to rub elbows with our fellow fishermen while fishing; not at all what we call a fun day of fishing.  Hope the salmon run isn't over by the time we get to wet the hook.

It is a beautiful day here in Ninilchik; bright and sun shining and warm, 64 degrees at 11:30 a.m.

The campground that we are staying at, Country Boy RV Park, is having a carry-in this afternoon at 4:00.  I fixed a huge bowl of pasta salad to take.  If we can't be together with our family & friends back home, the next best thing is being with our "RV family"!!!

I'm taking the day off from writing a long blog to celebrate this holiday.  Talk to you tomorrow.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!
